Nice one! Maybe you can do a review of the Fagen/Becker collaboration on Thomas Jefferson Kaye "First Grade" Album. Two songs of this album are written by the duo (American Lovers / Jones) and both arer playin a bit. Also Jeff "Skunk" Baxter.

Great Video Tim. I would add to your roster both EYE to EYE albums from 1981 and 1983 - the latter is called Shakespeare Stole my Baby. The (dan) force is very strong with these two albums. Produced by Gary Katz and has a whole host of great players. First album mastered by Rob Ludwig is a sonic dream and can be found for $5 (10 here in NZ) Shakespeare is a digital master and sounds a little bright. Both are siblings of Gaucho IMHO and hints of Kamakiriad. Fagen plays on a couple of tracks - On the Mend and Jabberwocky.

I have the cassette version of this boxset.

Purchasing yummy & healthy turkey for Thanksgiving is a much better choice than a vinyl record Tim.

A minor correction: it was Louis Johnson who played bass on Michael McDonald's first album and Michael Jackson's Off The Wall and Thriller albums. I think you only scratched the surface on Steely Dan sessions players. Patti Austin, Valerie Simpson, Jeff Porcaro,etc

Just got and listening to a Quadrophonic copy of Countdown To Ecstasy. Was not impressed. Secondary instruments would really "pop" out if the mix. It was odd.

I saw Lindsey on that tour, Detroit at the Majestic Theater. My Mom and I got there early, and was front row. They had tables with seats for the first few sections. All general admission. He did the solo for “Go Your Own Way” right in front of me, as he was sitting on the steps that came down from the stage. We got to shake his hand. Great experience, great memory. Not often, an artist gets to reproduce all the guitars that were laid down for a certain track. 5 extra guitar players I think, something like that. Insane! I would love “Out of the Cradle” to be released as a Rhino HIFI pressing. I would appreciate it, if you could put in a good word! Great video!

Hey Tim, did you compare your OG law & order vs the BG version from the box set?

Thanks Tim. I have two copies of Out of The Cradle. The Portuguese and the European in Near Mint condition. Both editions sound amazing. I have Law and Order and Go Insane US and Canadian originals in Near Mint as well. Not sure to buy this boxset unless sound quality is better than the originals. What is your opinion of the first two albums in regards to sound quality (comparing with the originals)?

LB is a musical genius, right up there with Pete Townsend, Brian Wilson IMO. Who TF kicks this guy outta the band?! There is an unreleased LP of his, name escapes me at the moment, shame it's not included in box. Oh....."Gift of Screws". Have it on CD. VG

I love this channel even though I don't own ANY vinyl. Why? Because you talk about great releases - some I've encountered in other formats, and some totally new to me - and the discussion around the history of a particular album or artist is a real treat. (But who knows, I might get converted to vinyl at some point.) Thanks Tim, and keep up the good work 🙂

The set looks great and I would love Out of the Cradle on vinyl, probably his best album. It's slightly disappointing that Time Bomb Town from the Back to the Future o.s.t. doesn't seem to be included. I do own the solo anthology vinyl boxset as well as his first two albums so I will probably pass on this, but I'm tempted!

Congrats on the find. I managed to get a similar early 80s UK BC13 and I love it. I also managed to get my hands on a German A1/B3 Magical Mystery Tour to add to the stereo Beatles LPs. Quick unrelated question - I saw that you mentioned Lindsey Buckingham’s Out of the Cradle from the new boxset on Discogs. Could you share more about the sound quality and if BG is in the deadwax? I love that record…

Good choices there but not a fan of Bruce, I'd substitute Alan Parson's Turn of a Friendly Card, Spirit's 12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus or John Coltrane's Ballads and/or Roxy Music Avalon not necessarily in that order by should be in any serious collectors line-up. Lesser known instrumental - Dick Schory's Supercussion form the early 60's, amazing Dynagroove pressing and just an amazing LP to ring-out your system. Thanks

What is the deal with RHINO Online store???? The worst at getting out orders and ATROCIOUS customer service. I have been waiting for two weeks for HI - Fidelity reissue. I’m not the only one having the problems / issues? Many complaints online and on many threads. Still waiting for a confirmation on shipping? NO phone number on the website? I was able to find the phone number and one of the threads online. Spoke to someone and they are going to try?????? To find out why the delay…starting to lose my patience…Will be calling the BBB, Trade Commission and my credit card company. Not sure if the hassle and grief…is worth buying from RHINO? Again BEWARE! It would be great if the UA-cam VC would address this issue…

I'm not so sure that the BC-13 box was the "last time" pressings were cut from the original U.K. stereo master tapes. If you date this box set from 1978, then the Mobile Fidelity half-speed mastered box set entitled THE BEATLES: THE COLLECTION -- issued in late 1982 -- was actually the last time pressings were cut from the original U.K. stereo master tapes.

I bought my set in the Cleveland area when it came out in 1978- my copy is #801. Also that year from the same store I bought 2 copies of the U.K. White Album on white vinyl and a U.K. Let It Be on white vinyl- still have them all.
